Apple's corporate logo will now be white or another solid color, according to Time Magazine, so let us say a Mac prayer to our multicoloured friend, take a moment of silence before reading on.
"The decision to drop the stripes was made about seven months ago in a meeting between Jobs and his advertising, design and marketing executives. 'It was quite unanimous,' Jobs told TIME. 'The stripes just felt like the '70s or early '80s.' ...Jobs says the shape is more important than the colors anyway. Referring to Nike's famous symbol, he adds, 'The shape is our swoosh.'"
OOPS!
Attorney General Dennis Vacco didn't expect to be accused of strong-arm tactics that harm businesses, the very thing he'd accused Microsoft of.
Comptroller H. Carl McCall said the states' antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft would actually hurt New York's economy -- worse, it might batter the public pension fund. 8.7 million Microsoft shares worth about $745 million are held by the state retirement fund! It's the second-largest corporate holding in the state's portfolio.
McCall, a Democrat, told WAMC-FM radio, "Obviously, the attorney general didn't talk to me before he did that." McCall added that Vacco, a Republican, might have done it for political gain.
